Finding the best putter grip for your game might not be as easy as you think, as one brand’s heartiest model might be another’s worst.

That’s because there are so many variations of putting grip types and what they are made of. If you’re not familiar, here’s a quick rundown of what they are:

Rubber – a good all-around golf grip.

Gel – a softer rubber grip that has a higher tack.

Neoprene – a somewhat sticky feel that doesn’t wear down much.

Polyurethane – a sticky little feel that’s hard to remove.

As you can see, the options are almost unlimited.

So, when it comes to finding the best putter grip, what should you look for?

I’m going to give you recommendations on what to look for based on personal experience and a great resource that I personally use, which is the reviews on Amazon.

Pros:

  • Easy to hold
  • 4 different materials make sure the grip is comfortable and stable
  • Improves performance
  • Durable and long-lasting

This product is simply awesome because it combines some of the best features in a single grip. I personally don’t like to use those textured oversize grips, and this one is just perfect. The grip is extremely tacky and I can say it is the best grip for my putter, I feel like I have a great control over my putter after installing this grip. I’m just kidding of course, this is the only thing you can do while your putt is on the way!

The grip is available in Black/White (and other colors) and currently ranked as the no. 1 best seller in golf putter grips category on Amazon. You can use the grip with either steel or composite putters.

  • Firm feel
  • Stays in place
  • Fits snug (if you get the right size)
  • Helps with straight stroke
  • Fits putters with grip holes ranging from .520 to .580 (the standard size is .545)
  • Easy to install

Black.

We've personally used these grips for years, and we think they're the best out there. They give a firm, non-slip feel that just feels right to us. Plus, we no longer experience those yips as often while playing. The slim design is also a great feature especially if you have small hands and lack the strength to break 90 on the green.

Our only complaint would be that the smaller size doesn't last as long as we'd like, and we miss the width on the longer putter grips offered by competitors. This is a great grip and does exactly what it claims to do … make putting more attractive for a lot of people.

3. Winn X Pro 1.18 1.32 and 1.60 Golf Putter Grips

Our rating: 8 / 10

Winn X Pro 1.18 1.32 and 1.60 Golf Putter Grips

Pros:

  • Unique helix pattern for reduced hand strain
  • Golfers who have used the Winn X Pro putter grips admit it has significantly reduced the amount of pressure they need to apply to make a clean shot. It’s also vital that a putter grip comes in sizes to fit most golfers, and the Winn X Pro is exactly that. It also comes in multiple color choices, which is great news for golfers who might have a specific color they prefer.
  • The helix pattern is crucial for the Winn X Pro. The helix pattern is a slight twist that allows for the Winn X Pro to rotate easily in the golfer’s hands. It’s especially helpful for golfers who are struggling to maintain control over their putter for longer putts.
  • Winn X Pro putter grips are specifically intended for golfers who have nothing but a straight-on view of the hole when putting. Traditional putter grips only turn slightly to the right but the helix pattern of the Winn X Pro makes for a regularly twisting pattern that allows the putter grip to turn far more efficiently.

Cons:

  • The main cons of this putter grip are that it is a little more expensive than other golf grips, and it can still be hard to control for beginner or intermediate golfers.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the best grip for a putter?

I believe the best putter grips for 2021 are going to be those that are great for both comfort and performance. This will ensure comfort to the player throughout their session, while also helping them achieve the best putting stroke springyness, grip, etc.

Golfers who enjoy golf are all about comfort, as they want to have fun throughout the game so they won’t be distracted. For a grip that will provide just that, force you to steer your putter properly, but also provide comfort, all at the same time, then you’ll love the Bushnell 3-Overwrap.

This grip provides a light but firm grasp that is designed specifically for long putters. It is made out of soft synthetic rubber material, so you’ll really enjoy having this putter in your hands when it’s time for that next putt.

Are thick putter grips better?

You would assume that a thicker putter grip is best for you. Let’s face it, it’s better to have more thickness than less. So why wouldn’t you want that kind of thicker putter grip? Well, because sometimes, thicker can mean better, but it can also mean more comfort.

If you want to swing your club by your back and then move it to the area when you start hitting, then yes, the thicker the grip, the better for ease of doing so. However, if you are a fan of gripping your putter fully and in a tight manner, then it’s better to find a thinner putter grip.

What is the best putter 2021?

If you are an experienced golfer, you will be looking for the best putter 2021 for yourself. As for those who are still new to the game, you should know that there are different putter grips available on the market today.

It is best to choose one that is made of steel, as it is the most durable. Color and shape may also serve as a factor for you when it comes to buying the best putter grips for the money.

If you are looking for the best putter grip, it should have the perfect grip features, comfortable in your hands, as well as have different colors and style. Choose among different colors and brands of the best putter grips that are present on the market today.

How often should you Regrip your putter?

A lot of people assume that when their grip wears out on their putter that they can just buy a new one. This isn’t the best option for two reasons: First of all, you’re spending the money and wasting your money by buying a new grip. Secondly, it’s not good for your putting stroke to keep switching between new and old grips constantly.

Either have faith in yourself to grip the new putter tightly enough that you won’t use a new grip, or if you need a new grip after 6 months or so, then go for it. But do not try to swap out new grips whenever you feel like you need a change.

Conclusion

Since putters are the highlight of the golfing world, it's no surprise that there are so many things to consider when buying one. Playing golf can be a fun and enjoyable sport. But hitting more accurate shots requires having the right golf clubs and accessories. Selecting the right putter grip is no different.
