When you play golf, your wedges are arguably the most important clubs in your bag because you use them on almost every hole. When you choose your wedges, you need to know what you’re doing.

If you simply rely on your intuition, or worse, just go with what your buddies suggest, you risk spending money on pieces of equipment that are bad value and not as good as you’d like — that’s why I’ve written this guide.

Wedges have a huge selection of models to choose from, so you’ll need to decide which area of golf you’re working on most, like short distance, workability, or a certain putting style.

  • Great looks
  • Comfortable grip
  • Great value for money
  • Soft feel

The Cleveland Golf Men’s Smart Sole 3 Wedge S is a great wedge for players of all levels except for those who prefer heavy wedges for getting out of the bunkers. While it has a slightly smaller head than most of its rivals, it has earned a medium/soft bounce to make up for it. It’s a great choice for hitting some tricky shots from the sand or for getting out onto the hard fairway. It also offers great value for the money and has superior spin control over the competition. The shape of its sole and its Smart Sole system allow for great grip on firm or soft surfaces, and while the grip in firm conditions is a bit forward, it still offers a stable feel. The wedge also offers a good sound on contact thanks to its stainless steel sole.

4. Callaway Golf Mack Daddy 5 JAWS Wedge

  • Damaged wedge replaces for a pretty low price
  • Unique finish
  • Brass inserts for custom weighting
  • Excellent performance and forgiveness
  • Unique sole grind makes it versatile
  • Great design that cuts down on turf wear

  • Custom weighting can be troublesome to change
  • Shorter hosel requires more loft

The Callaway Mackdaddy 5 JAWS is a great example of what an upgrade wedge should be. It all stems back to Callaway’s Research and Development department and how they changed the lie angles and loft, which moves the position of the center of gravity to produce a very different wedge.

Another great aspect is the ability to custom weight the Mackdaddy wedge. There are sixteen brass inserts available, and you can change them with a hex tool that comes with them. There’s also a section that explain how to do this, so you can keep the weight where you want it best.

The head is designed to work great from any lie and any turf. It’s made with cut-through sole technology, which allows for a thinner face that’s more flexible, making it easier to get out of your bunker.

The Wilson Harmonized Golf Wedge is one of my favorite in 2020 as it gives you great information as to what the club will do and where the ball is going with its clean and clever design.

One of the reasons why it’s near the top of my list is because it’s one of the sole manufacturers of a quality golf wedge.

The club is for advanced golfers and professionals that know what they want. It is light, built to last, and has a variety of materials available.

6. Pinemeadow Wedge

Our rating: 8 / 10

Pinemeadow Wedge

  • Excellent control and feel
  • Pocket-friendly price

  • Heavier than other wedges on the market
  • Shaft is prone to cracking

Pinemeadow is known for making premium golfing products, and the Paradise Red Pinemeadow Wedge is no exception. It’s a very easy to hit wedge that addresses the most basic wedge technique flaws, like an improper strike.

The red paint coating and the marbelized finish add a classiness to the wedge, which is much appreciated. The classic design and construction can withstand years of rigorous play, making it good enough to last a long time. The head of the wedge is made with a shaft made of steel, while the club face is made from cromoly steel.

Another feature that appeals to players is that it offers excellent control over the ball. It has the right amount of bounce and kick, and can be used for both short and long shots. The length of the club is also spot on – not too short, not too long. The only downside to the Pinemeadow wedge is that it’s a bit heavier than modern wedges.

  • Stronger lofts at higher shaft lengths
  • Balanced swing weight throughout the set
  • Great pop and a nice feel around the greens
  • Amazing performance at value price

Although Trusoft is heavy on the pockets, I’ve always felt it’s the best putter in the market currently. It has a soft feel to it and remains relatively straight even at slow speeds. I also like the idea of the dual weights, as it allows you to choose between heavier and lighter putters depending on conditions. Lastly, there’s the sweet design with the kiwi bird embossed on the face of the putter.

  • New adjustable wrench groove
  • Deep sole makes it easier to get out of tough lies
  • More than twice as many grooves for better spin
  • More speed on shots

The TaylorMade Golf MG2 wedge is a versatile golf wedge with a simple construction that offers large grooves for better spin, more speed on shots, and a great control.

This wedge comes with a 58 degrees of loft, but the dynamic loft and face angle are adjusted all the time. Offset design lowers spin and can help you find the fairway. It offers a bigger face and larger grooves that are 30% larger than other wedges.

This offers a deeper (a bit shallower) groove positioning for better performance from the rough, turf, and sand. The large grooves give you a better feel for the ball.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What are the best wedges for a high handicapper?

A high handicapper is a person who has never teed it up before. That does not mean that they do not know anything about golf. They just need to start from the beginning to learn the basics.

The best way to give this person is to find the best multiblade wedges for high handicappers. These are people who have little idea about the game of golf and who don’t have any experience.

A high handicapper has to learn a lot of things when they start the game of golf. They need to first learn the basics such as how to manage the ball correctly and how to swing quickly. Since the player knows nothing about the game, they will inevitably hit a number of bad shots.

Which company makes the best wedges?

Mizuno is a brand known in the golf industry for making some of the best golf equipment and having one of the most prestigious tournament winnings. The MZ-4 Fairway is no exception. Mizuno’s MZ-4 fairway wedge is the best wedge for professionals and amateurs alike. It’s a versatile and highly functional wedge, with a slightly rounded, flat sole. The iron has a thick, milled face, and the back of the club is milled as well. This gives the clubbed a modern, sleek look. The club’s face is more open to a slightly more modern style, so it’s great for amateurs. The 62° of loft makes this club versatile, giving the player the ability to attack the ball at a variety of different angles.

What are the best wedges 2022?

Currently, the best wedges are the Lamont –Stable-Pro— Professional Wedge Kit: 8 wedges at increments of 2 inches.

These are designed to be durable and feature an amazing grip that helps you to prevent your club from slipping out of your hands. They are made with the sole purpose of helping you to improve your swing and consistency in your golfing shots. This is especially popular for amateur golfers who are just starting out with improving their game and are trying to settle in their own comfort zone.

How do I choose the right bounce for my wedges?

This is a very individual decision based on how you want to grip and the shaft length you want. The most popular grip for golfers is the standard Vokey Design grip. This is also the grip used by Rory McIlroy.

The wedge size system is based on length from the sole of the blade to where the handle begins. For example, the number of inches can be found by measure the sole length of the club and dividing the number in half (Ex. 60-inch wedge = 30 inches).

The shaft length is what most people find to be a mystery. The best way to decide is to look at where the ball would be sitting if you were standing where you are from a normal address position (i.e., your right foot is towards the target).

We have done the research and have found what we believe are the top 10 best wedges of 2019. Each model has its own distinct set of features, and it is up to you to decide which angle finder will provide maximum value for your needs.

While there are several of the same wedge models on our list, they have different pros and cons depending on which model you choose.
