1. Titleist Pro V1 Golf Balls
Pros:
- Cheapest name brand balls
- Great for distance and durability
- Customizable by the buyer
- Good feedback from users
- 100% synthetic material
Cons:
- Not the softest feel for some
- Not as much control on turf as other balls
- Not available in other colors
A complete golf ball review? You bet. The three stages — entry level, mid range and the gold standard. These are the cheap balls as cheap is the operative word here. I always do a golf ball test when I learn there are new balls on the market.
This year I have a bit of a surprise: a set of one dozen (12) Pro V1’s which I purchased just a few days after the PGA Show.
2. Kirkland Signature Four-Piece Urethane Cover Golf Ball
Pros:
- Budget-friendly value
- TaylorMade is the only one that can make a ball this well
Cons:
- Spins out on the green and on the fairway
- Hard flight balls
Their proprietary dimple design is patented, for added ease of mind. Lower spin rates from the club face provide you with straight drives. The core is softer to enhance a soft feel when you hit the ball, so you have more control on the contact. The core is harder so it retains its shape and bounces back on the fairway, even if it hits the ground.
It has a multilayer cover that increases compression and speed once you hit the ball. It’s firm because it doesn’t stretch as a ball hits into the woods. It’s harder and more durable than other balls so it plays better for a longer time. The driver is long and straight the fairway is calm and smooth for added accuracy. The spin is average for a player to hit straight shots.
This is a great 2-piece option for players of all levels. The feel is like your driving range ball, only softer. It is fine for short game but drives is where it lacks. Softer feel and more spin is required for greens, but the ball will give you the straight flight necessary on the fairway.
3. Kirkland Signature Golf Balls
Pros:
- Price
- Quality Performance
- Good ball to play with when practicing during the winter
- Good option for either players or novices
- Good for using with a push cart on uneven terrain
Cons:
- Some report that the balls smell very strongly.
- Distance varies on some of these balls, depending on the specific batch received.
- Ball can lose its shape and flatten out during long, one-day rounds (but checks out perfectly fine in a robot ball tester).
The Kirkland Signature Golf Balls are made to meet the needs of average golfers and, as such, they shine in terms of quality and affordability.
